The pipe organ built in 1868 by George Fincham, of Richmond, for Christ Church Anglican Church, Warrnambool was the earliest known pipe organ in western Victoria, west of Ballarat and Geelong. It was moved to the Congregational Church, Warrnambool in 1891 and to its present location in 1940. A two-manual organ of 18 stops built in 1929 by W L Roberts and one of the few examples of his work to remain intact. The focal point of the building, the instrument incorporates the pipework from an organ built in 1889 by George Fincham for the residence of S Stokes, Brighton and retains its 1929 tonal scheme, attractive oak case and detached drawknob console. The Uniting Church is of regional historic significance as a surviving example of an 1850s church, reflecting the early development of Methodism in the Heidelberg and Northcote area. Courcelle Organ - Uniting Church

McCracken Street,, KENSINGTON VIC 3031 - Property No B6364

One of the seven known organs exported to Victoria in the 1860s by London organbuilder John Courcelle, this single-manual instrument of five stops is thought to have been placed in the Wesleyan Church, Fitzroy Street, St Kilda before its installation at Kensington, possibly in the 1920's. The instrument is intact, apart from the introduction of electric blowing, and retains its gabled Gothic case of three flats, oak console fittings and bold voicing. Classified: 04/05/1989
